DO I RECOMMEND STATUE OF UNITY : NO !!!

There are many reasons to support my answer , first of all there is nothing special at that area, everything is manmade and hype. Total waste of time to go all the way from Vadodara to Kevadia ... for more details read whole story below ....

About Place:

October 31st, 2018, marked the inauguration of the world's tallest statue – the Statue of Unity, against the backdrop of the dramatic Satpura and Vindhyachal hills in Kevadia, Gujarat. The 182-metre (600 feet aprox.) statue is dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of independent India. The Statue of Unity is a tribute to the Indian leader Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, unveiled on 31 October 2018. This statue is a patriotic symbol of the legacy of a man who spent his life in the struggle for freedom. As a mark of respect, statue is located at his birthplace in Gujarat.

HOW TO REACH STATUE OF UNITY

Vadodara railway station is the nearest rail head to the Sardar Patel statue. You can get on the public transport or book a cab to take you directly to the site.

Specially mentioned his details because he is such a humble car driver I ever met. highly recommended , he showed us one more place on our way to Statue of Unity , name of that place was Nilakanth Dham and it was really worth to visit than Statue of Unity.

Two Options are there

1. Shreshtha Bharat Bhavan (operated by Hotel Ramada)

2. Tent City Narmada (costly )

DO WE NEED ADVANCE BOOKING

We heard from our friends that if we book it in advance then it is better , but when we reach there and saw no one in a queue , seriously!

You should not do advance booking , otherwise there will be restrictions to reach there in time and that is super unpredictable , with indian roads and transportation services

So Don’t Book in Advance !!!

What we should carry with us ?

You should take food and drinks. (There is an food court but price is very high plus they don’t serve NON VEG 😒 and it is way far from the statue and other attractions so better to carry your stuff with you )
you can take camera , mobile phone, power bank and bag (there is a luggage room available).
Start your day early because lots of manmade thing to watch here . It will take a full day
Sunscreen or umbrella are must ... sun is too harsh here that will definitely give you sunburn, i faced it myself .
come with cotton and full clothes to protect your hands during harsh afternoon

Why I don’t like the place ?

there is huge entry fee considering to what they give it back
no need to book viewing gallery , as there is small jali and you could not enjoy a whole view from that point at all
food court serves only veg , considering the global icon of our country , how could you serve restrictive food to visitors , is that going to work with foreigners ?
Pet zone was in horrible condition , I would request them to take proper care and maintain hygiene of those poor animals
coming to the Zoo section , total waste of money i would say ... all those poor animals are not made for that hot region at all , only the Bird park I enjoyed ... but again that too was in bad condition
Horrible hot region that gives you feeling of desert ... can’t complete or enjoy the whole area because of that.
during summer , there is less water in Narmada , takes away a charm of river as well .
It’s total hype for me .... but as a travel blogger I tried to visit that place and gave my genuine reviews on that place , It’s upto you if you want to visit that place !
