Vienna : Austria

Vienna, Austria’s capital, lies in the country’s east on the Danube River. Its artistic and intellectual legacy was shaped by residents including Mozart, Beethoven and Sigmund Freud. The city is also known for its Imperial palaces, including Sch├╢nbrunn, the Habsburgs’ summer residence. In the MuseumsQuartier district, historic and contemporary buildings display works by Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt and other artists.

The best time to visit Vienna is from April to May or September to October. The mild weather in spring and fall brings mild crowds. Most visitors aim to enjoy the warm, sunny weather that Vienna experiences in the summer months. Between June and August, you can expect the city to fill up and room rates to skyrocket.

Our stay at Vienna was very limited but it was full of beautiful memories. For booking we should concentrate on the month of travelling, if you are planning in pick season then do your booking 5/6 months before to get nice discounted perks of hotels and tour operators. I feel Offseason are always great to discover cities because there is a mild crowd, no rush hours and discounted hotel rates are offered ...

Points of interests Vienna

  • Sch├╢nbrunn Palace

The place is worth visiting in Vienna. A great example of Austrian opulence and lifestyle of Rulers. The audio tour of the palace is good to understand the details. The park behind the palace is open for public and the garden on the top gives a magnificent view of Vienna city.
Architectural stunner. Best time to visit would be summer and spring when the lawns are laid out with flower gardens. The place is overcrowded with tourists and the ticket counter is always heavily queued up. Reachable by train from the city centre.

  • Belvedere Palace

The Belvedere is a historic building complex in Vienna, Austria, consisting of two Baroque palaces, the Orangery, and the Palace Stables. The buildings are set in a Baroque park landscape in the third district of the city, on the south-eastern edge of its centre. It houses the Belvedere museum
Beautiful place. Two wonderful palaces ( upper and lower). The upper Belvedere is where the Kiss (Klimt) can be seen and also other amazing paintings. I would return anytime. A single visit seems too short. If you have the Vienna pass, both of them are included.

  • Vienna State Opera

Fantastic place to visit. Don't miss the guided tour of the opera where you get the opportunity to go backstage and understand the behind the scenes workings of opera. The guide was very knowledgeable and explained a lot about the history and current workings of the opera. Highly recommended.

The Vienna State Opera is an Austrian opera house and opera company based in Vienna, Austria. It was originally called the Vienna Court Opera. In 1920, with the replacement of the Habsburg Monarchy by the First Austrian Republic, it was renamed the Vienna State Opera.

  • Prater and Viennese Giant Ferris Wheel

The Prater is a large public park in Vienna's 2nd district. The Wurstelprater, an amusement park that is often simply called "Prater", lies in one corner of the Wiener Prater and includes the Wiener Riesenrad Ferris wheel.

Great place to visit. Must visit during summer or spring so you could get a chance to see the beautiful gardens around it during winter most of the things will be closed only the giant wheel would be working. The saddest part was they only accept currency either local or US dollars

  • Albertina

The Albertina is a museum in the Innere Stadt of Vienna, Austria. It houses one of the largest and most important print rooms in the world with approximately 65,000 drawings and approximately 1 million old master prints, as well as more modern graphic works, photographs and architectural drawings

I really enjoyed visiting this museum. The quarters are beautiful and so are some of the paintings exhibited here. There was also a modern art exhibition here ( downstairs) which I didn't quite enjoy, but for those who love modern art, it might be interesting.
